How PG Four got Selected

Four members of PG have gained places in one of the Berkshire Units going to the World Jamboree in 2007

Alex Robins, Mark Courtier, James Kirk and Toby Ayre attended a selection weekend, held a Bears Rails camp site, old Windsor, the last weekend in March.

PG FOUR Going on World Jamboree
Out of 116 applications for 72 places, they were all selected on merit, with a range of skills and positive personalities. They will be joining fifteen other young people going from Maidenhead

They are starting to organising some fundrasing activities to help raise the four thousand pound they need to raise, to pay the camp fee. This will be on top of they normal Scouting activities at PG.

The World Scout Jamboree will be a gathering of Scouts from around the world for 12 days from 27 July to 8 August 2007.

The theme of the 21st World Scout Jamboree in 2007 is “One World One Promise” – which captures the aspirations and hopes of young people for the future

Maidenhead and District Scouts have fifteen young members and one leader, who will be part of seventy-two young people and six leaders from all over Berkshire, as members of one of the two Berkshire Units

The World Jamboree is going to be held in the UK, at Hylands Park, Essex. 40,000 people are expected to attend, made up of 32,000 young people and 8,000 staff, they will come from over 200 countries for 12 days. The UK Contingent to the 21st World Scout Jamboree will be the biggest ever! With around 4,000 young people and Leaders and over 2,000 on the International Service Team.

These young people will camp, live and work alongside each other. They will come from a variety of different cultures, backgrounds, and religions. Together they will celebrate what unites them, and learn what they can do together to help build a better world.

ALL Maidenhead (Including PG) Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders had the opportunity to attend a Special Camp in 2007 to Celebrate 100 years of Scouting. The Camp was held on Marsh Meadow, Friday 25th May to Monday 28th May 2007
