We held our special Street Party to celebrate the Queens Golden Jubilee outside our Scout Hall in Pinkneys Green, Maidenhead.
The event took place on Winter Hill road and on the Green. The Scout Section organised this event, using the Scouts ideas
The day before the marquees were set up as well as putting up all the bunting, decorations and
preparing the Scout hall as a reception area for all the food.
With the help of our Council (Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead) we closed the road outside
our Scout Hall from 10am till 9pm. We also had a licensed Bar and Barbeque through out the day.
The main activities of the day were:
10am - We watched the first game of the World Cup, England v Sweden on a large screen in our
large Green Marquee. Final Score was 1 all.
12noon - start of games and activities. These included drawing a Union Flag on the road.
A large selection of games included, a large blow up boxing ring, skittles, volley ball,
football, cricket, basketball, swing ball, plus fair games, ping pong blower and rolling horse.
Theses carried on after the Tea Party
4pm - on the road we held our tea party, where over 260 children and adults, made up of our
neighbours and members of PG and their families sat down for afternoon tea.
A special thank you goes to ever one who supplied the tons of food.
Thank you to all the neighbours, parents and friends whose support made this event a great
success. We estimate we had between 350-400 people there, including our MP Theresa May.
We are looking for Photos of the event - if you have any we could have please email them
to Simon at streetparty@pgscouts.org.uk
or let Simon borrow the photo(s).
